SARM, short for Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators, is a new form of research chemical used by thousands of bodybuilders around the world.
They have a number of benefits , including:
- Promote muscle growth
- Improving athletic performance
- Increased strength gain
- Promote Fat Loss
They have been used by many athletes lately and they have become a recent topic of much discussion. What are these selective androgen receptor modulators, how do they work and what results can you expect from them?
What is a SARM?
As we previously posted here in the Health Guide, SARMs are supplements that increase the level of androgens or male hormones in the user’s body.
They do this by binding to androgen receptors, which then signal to your body to start building muscle, and also signal that it begins to grind fat.
SARMs were originally developed in the 1900s as a way to help cancer patients suffering from muscle loss cope. They were quickly shelved, however, until research resumed in the 1990s.
After extensive testing and clinical research, Ligand Pharmaceuticals released one of the first versions of SARMS, which we now know as LGD-4033 or Ligandrol for short.
Since then, users have received incredible results from SARMs such as Ligandrol, Ostarine, Testolone and more. Now let’s take a look at the results you can also expect.
Expected Results of SARMs
With SARMs, many users can expect to gain up to 30 pounds in weight in just a few months. However, this amount will vary depending on your experience.
If you’ve lifted weights and studied nutrition for a long time, the results you will get from a cycle will be quite astounding and will probably be the same as the picture above.
In fact, the Ostarine before and after article that John Anthony posted on his Masculine Skills Development blog is probably some of the best results you can expect from a cycle.
He says he gained 21 pounds of muscle and lost 12 pounds of fat by doing a simple SARM cycle from rookie Ostarine, LGD 4033, and Cardarine.
Not everyone will get these results, but the more you learn about health and fitness, the better you will get results from your cycle.
The best SARMs for you will vary depending on your individual needs. Each of these research chemicals has different effects, strengths and weaknesses.
RAD 140, or Testolone, for example, is an easy SARM for building muscle and increasing overall strength. Ostarine, or MK-2866, arrives the next second.
For fat grinding, ligandrol and cardarin are superior. They selectively target specific androgen receptors to help you burn fat while avoiding common side effects.
If you’re looking for a SARM stack, many users can get great results when a moderate dose of RAD 140 and Ostarine is combined for 90 days.
The maximum doses for each SARM are given as a general guideline:
- Ostarine: maximum dosage of 50 mg / day
- Testolone: maximum dosage 30 mg / day
- MK-677: maximum dosage 25 mg / day
- Ligandrol: maximum dosage 20 mg / day
- Cardarin: Maximum dosage 20 mg / day
- YK-11: maximum dosage 10 mg / day
You probably, but I do not want to take more of these doses as they have not been proven to be safe. More research remains to be done on maximum human doses.
Common side effects
Seeing that SARMs can bring such incredible benefits to users, most people always ask the question, “Do they have any serious side effects?” >
Unfortunately, we are not entirely sure what the long-term side effects are, but we do know that there are very few, if any, short-term side effects, depending on the SARM.
One research paper from Boston University School of Medicine praised SARMs, claiming they can improve athletic performance with very few side effects:
“The past decade has seen unprecedented efforts to develop selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs) that improve physical function and bone health without negatively impacting prostate and cardiovascular outcomes.”
They also claim that SARMs “promise to be a new class of anabolic therapy-promoting functions” that may help with aging, chronic disease, weakness, and osteoporosis.
In contrast, Men’s Health recently published an article claiming that bodybuilding supplements known as SARMs are actually not as safe as you think:
“SARMs can actually cause side effects like steroids,” says Dr. Bhasin. In addition to the risks listed above, steroid side effects include infertility and mental health problems such as depression, aggression, or suicidal thoughts. “ Thus, alternative natural steroids can be used instead.
While many users have tried SARMs like Ostarine so far and claimed to have no side effects, much of it depends on the source you get them from.
In general, we cannot recommend the use of selective androgen receptor modulators. Much more research is needed to determine long- and medium-term side effects. We recommend that you use testosterone boosters instead of SARMs if you are a beginner.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also advised against using them, stating that they are “extremely concerned” by questionable companies selling potentially fake SARMs.
If you decide to use SARM, be sure to consult with a licensed physician. Only you and your doctor can make wise decisions about your health, we know that for sure.
